Focus Group
Welcome to our weekly update on your child's exciting learning journey.
We explored a range of different learning opportunities this week in Focus Group.
Art activities are not only messy fun, but reinforce colour recognition and concepts such as mixing. This week, the children printed with their hands and used stamps, and also painted with brushes.
Working with coloured shaving foam is also messy tactile fun and allows the children to express themselves through mark-making. It also reinforces the idea of colour mixing experienced in other art activities.
Playdough is another very tactile medium that the children enjoy working with. This week they made hedgehogs with the dough and used penne pasta to make the spikes.
Puzzle games require concentration and application. They also provide a tremendous sense of satisfaction when they are completed successfully.
Small world figures are useful for imaginative play. Groups of similar figures can also be used to introduce mathematic concepts such as sorting by size or colour.
This mathematical learning can be consolidated through more advanced sorting, counting and ordering learning activities.
Early literacy is encouraged and stimulated through the use of flashcard puzzle games as the children pair pictures of familiar objects with the appropriate letters.
Bucket Time is a fun way to introduce different sensory experiences and encourages the children to describe the sensations they are experiencing.
