Focus Group

Welcome to our weekly update on your child's exciting learning journey.

This week's learning focused on the theme of My Body

We read Hands Are Not for Hitting by Martine Agassi. The children discussed the importance of using kind hands and gentle touches. We discussed positive behaviours like helping, holding hands, and giving high fives.

We extended the learning about hands by making handprints art using bright paints in lots of different colours. The children also used their hands as they ran small world vehicles through the paint to make wheel tracks.

Construction play combines tactile sensations with fine motor control and hand/eye coordination. It is also a great way to introduce the basic concepts of shape, colour and pattern recognition.

These ideas can be developed further when the concept of ordering is introduced and the children begin to arrange objects by colour but also by size.

Using a magnetic board and letters, the children were introduced to the basic letter shapes.

A tray of foam coloured with paint is a fun and messy way to practise fine motor control as the children mix, make marks and print with a variety of brushes and objects.

Have a wonderful weekend.
