Focus Group
Welcome to our weekly update on your child's exciting learning journey.
We have enjoyed a range of learning activities in Focus Group this week.
Driving small world vehicles through paint is a messy and fun introduction to colour mixing and a way to introduce the concept of mark-making.
On the same theme, free painting allows the children to experiment with colour and make their own choices to express their creativity.
Mark-making with pens and pencils develops coordination and fine motor control.
Construction and puzzle play require concentration and introduce the fundamental skills of shape and colour recognition, and sorting.
Play with the small world figures and trains provides an opportunity for the children to create their own stories and relate their learning to what they have observed in the world outside nursery.
Sensory trays offer a range of different sensations and stimulate curiosity about the objects presented.
Quiet reading time is a wonderful introduction to the magic of books.
