Focus Group
Welcome to our weekly update on your child's exciting learning journey.
For this short first week of the new academic year, we focused our attention on Welcome to Nursery to help us settle back into routine and revisit some favourite activities.
We read Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush by Annie Kubler. This wonderfully illustrated book uses the popular rhyme to catalogue some of the everyday routines we go through to get ready for a day at school. The children enjoyed singing along and associating their own morning activities with those in the story.
The children’s creativity was encouraged by some free sticking. This is a great way for the children to express themselves artistically through their choice of materials. It was also a good way to refine fine motor skills and coordination as they worked with glue brushes and delicate art materials.
Drawing with the big chalks on black art paper and working with paint was also fun and some lovely colourful artworks were created.
The children also worked on their problem-solving skills by enjoying some puzzles and working with the Montessori knobbed cylinders.
Fine motor skills and coordination were also tested by a scooping activity where the children transferred colourful rice from one bowl to another using small tools such as teaspoons.
Have a wonderful weekend.
