Focus Group
Welcome to our weekly update on your child's exciting learning journey.
In Focus group this week, the children have been learning though engaging in activities designed to stimulate their curiosity and develop their skills in a range of areas. Small world play provides an opportunity to relate their observations of the real world to play and to create their own narratives based on their experiences outside nursery.
Art activities using paint enhance understanding of colour and mixing and are an opportunity for the children to express themselves creatively through their choices of colour and implements, creating a visual record of their achievement.
Sensory trays offer materials with different properties such as texture, sound and colour. Working with tools helps the children develop their fine motor skills and coordination and requires concentration and application.
Construction play this week focused on towers. This activity can provide a great sense of achievement and also can be a vehicle for reinforcing colour recognition as the children choose specific materials to make their constructions.
Kinetic sand is a wonderful medium that can be formed using moulds. Puzzle games require a range of skills: shape and colour recognition, concentration and basic number skills.
